Blogging Is A Fickle Bitch

Have you ever written a piece you were particularly proud of and had no response to it? Then you write a piece you barely notice and it gets all the attention. You are happily surprised to discover this until you notice a glaring grammatical error in a piece that has been read by fifty times as many people as your favorite post.

That's right. You're a blogging retard.

Well, maybe not you. But I am.

It's almost like I have no idea what is good. This leads me to be, basically, a random post generator spewing forth post after post with no editorial narrative or common thematic elements. I attempt to categorize and focus my efforts into running post lines but in reality I just skim through an RSS feed and, like monkeys typing Shakespeare, fling stories out into the ether in the hopes that someone might read it.

And you do.

So, I guess this is all a really bizarre way of saying thanks for stopping by and please forgive the glaring grammatical and spelling errors. I'm a Moron after all.

Yes it is, I can post something smart, but its always something goofy that gets me the most traffic. My top post was about Chelada, a premixed drink made of Budweiser and Clamato.

I can't wait for the rest of the Zombie Ask a Moron, I'm gonna link the whole series at once when you post all of them, like I did with Plebian's vasectomy saga.

I write these epic posts that are steeped in founded opinion and photo representation, and the post that got the most hits was the one with me holding up a friggin shrimp the size of my forearm.

I don't get it either.

At least you are a typing monkey who manages to be accidentally thoughtful and improbably endearing. Guess I'll be back. Keep pecking.

As someone who doesn't blog, but comments frequently at Moron Central, and occasionally elsewhere, perhaps I can provide some insight.

Don't equate comments with what's being read. A really well thought-out post often tends to generate less comments because people feel they don't have anything worthwhile to add.

However, silly and short posts can generate a lot of comments because there is a lot of room to make jokes, relate personal experiences, etc.

Trust me, your longer posts are being read and are often the reason for the return vists by people like me. Don't sweat the comment count.

Hermit Dave nailed it.

These are morons, so 90% of the time, most commenting will be completely un- related to the post anyway.

Fun, but un-related.

It's awesome to get feedback though. That's why we do it isn't it?

I got an LGF piggy back a few weeks ago, 2000 hits in two days, and not one comment.

So there you go.

I love being lumped in with a vasectomy saga. Legendary!

And yeah, I love the comments... I mean, "accidentally thoughtful and improbably endearing." I think I'm going to put that on the sidebar.
